At Careguard Inc., we are committed to maintaining your confidence and trust as it relates to the privacy, security, and integrity of your personal information. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information obtained through our website, webforms, mobile applications, and offline business interactions (collectively, the "Services").
Careguard Inc. is a marketing and comparison platform. We are not an insurance company, agent, broker, or carrier. We do not sell, solicit, negotiate, issue, or bind insurance policies, and we do not provide insurance advice or recommendations. Our Services connect consumers with independent, third-party, licensed insurance experts, brokers, and carriers (“Providers”) who can offer, quote, and sell insurance products directly to you.
Any decision to request a quote, apply for coverage, or purchase a policy is made directly between the consumer and the Provider you choose to engage with. Providers are independent businesses responsible for their own products, pricing, licensing, and privacy practices, and are not owned or controlled by Careguard Inc. unless separately identified as a corporate affiliate.
We collect information that identifies, relates to, describes, or is reasonably capable of being associated with an individual (“Personal Information”). The categories of Personal Information we collect depend on how you interact with our platform and may include:
We obtain personal information through three primary pathways:
We use your Personal Information for the following business and commercial purposes:
To operate our comparison and referral Services, we may disclose your personal information to the following categories of recipients:
We work with third-party digital advertising networks, social media platforms, and analytics providers (such as Google Analytics) to deliver interest-based, cross-context behavioral advertising. Under certain state privacy laws (such as the California Consumer Privacy Act and similar laws in other states), disclosing identifiers such as cookies or device IDs for cross-context advertising, or sending your information to a Provider in exchange for compensation, may be defined as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, even though no cash changes hands.
We honor opt-out preference signals, including the Global Privacy Control (GPC), where legally required, as an opt-out of sale/sharing and targeted advertising. See Section 10 below for how to exercise this and other choices.
Certain information we collect including driver’s license number, and precise geolocation is classified as “sensitive personal information” under some state privacy laws. We collect and use this information only as needed to facilitate the quote-matching Services you request (for example, providing it to a Provider who requires it to generate a quote). Where required by law, we will obtain your consent before using or disclosing sensitive personal information for purposes beyond what is reasonably necessary to provide the Services, and you may have the right to limit our use of this information. See Section 10 below.
We use the information described in Section 2 (“Inferences”) to help identify which Providers and products may be relevant to your stated needs. This process helps route your inquiry to appropriate providers; it does not itself result in a decision to approve, deny, or price any insurance product; those decisions are made independently by the provider you choose to work with. Where state law provides a right to opt out of profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects, you may exercise that right as described in Section 10.
We implement commercially reasonable physical, technical, and procedural safeguards including Transport Layer Security (TLS) encryption for web transmissions designed to reduce the risk of data loss, misuse, or unauthorized access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to: (a) maintain your account or an active inquiry with us; (b) fulfill the purposes described in this Policy; (c) meet regulatory recordkeeping requirements applicable to licensed financial and insurance-adjacent entities (which commonly range from [3–7] years depending on the record type and state); or (d) resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. Where feasible, we de-identify or delete personal information once these purposes no longer apply.
Our Services are directed to adults and are not intended for, or knowingly marketed to, individuals under the age of eighteen (18). We do not knowingly collect, sell, or share personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a minor, we will delete it promptly. A parent or guardian who believes we may have collected information from a minor may contact us using the information in Section 12.
Depending on your state of residence including California, Texas, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Oregon, Minnesota, Indiana, Kentucky, Rhode Island, and others with comprehensive privacy laws you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal information:
